I was one of the founders of ABC back in 2002 and have been a qualified Practitioner for more years than I am prepared to admit too. Having always been a working mother and now a doting grandmother I bring a wealth of experience both in business and childcare to ABC. I registered as a Lead Practitioner with SSSC having gained my SVQ level 4 Children's Care, Learning and Development qualification in 2009 and I play an active role in the West Lothian branch of the NDNA. My main responsibility within ABC is to assist the management with the administration aspects of the business, ensuring it runs smoothly.
In my downtime I love spending time with my family, shopping, days out with the girls and always trying to “get fit”
As Deborah husband I have been the support act behind the scenes of ABC from the beginning, but now playing a more active role. I am the resident facilitator, in other words the handyman, which is why you see more regularly on site.
I have been self-employed since 1991 therefore bring a great deal of business management and knowledge to ABC.
I have held a SVQ level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development since July 2014 and I took up my joined ABC in May 2015. I work predominantly with 2-5 years and simply adore spending time playing lots of fun games with children! My hobbies are baking and sewing which is a skill I love to share within the nursery.
After completing my 2 year HNC in Early Education and Childcare studies at Stevenson College in June 2014 I was delighted to be immediately offered the position at ABC as a Practitioner. When joining, ABC provided me with the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of the setting before finally settling to work with my key-children within the Preschool classroom. As a male I am a rarity in the sector and although I do enjoy all the female attention I feel passionate that more men should be encouraged into the industry.
My main responsibility are working and planning with my key-children within the preschool room. I am a mum of 3 and joined ABC staffing team in June 2014. Prior to this I gained 9 years’ experience in the childcare sector from a variety of backgrounds which included afterschool leader, playgroup and settings for children with additional support needs. I am a SVQ 3 qualified Practitioner and in addition hold Signalong certification. As part of my ongoing CPD I recently applied to West Lothian College to study SVQ Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 4.
I hold SVQ 3 qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development and have worked for ABC since 2006. Throughout this time I have gained a wealth of experience in working in all areas of the setting from baby room to out of school care. Currently my main area of responsibility is working and planning with my key-children in preschool and ensuring the smooth running of ABC afterschool and holiday club.
Out-with work I am one of 8 children and love being Auntie to 6 nieces and nephews
I joined ABC in 2013 firstly as a Practitioner, then gained promotion to Senior Practitioner in 2014 before attaining to the role of Deputy Manager in April 2015. My main responsibilities are to oversee the safe, smooth running of the 2-5 years playroom by supporting and guiding the staff. In the 5 years leading up to this I worked in a variety of childcare environments that include afterschool clubs and playgroups whilst studying for my SVQ 3 which I achieved in 2011. Prior to this I was as a relative foster carer and attended college in the evening to gain my PDA Classroom Assistant.
I am a mother of 4 and grandma to one who I love spending time with.
Practitioner & Head of Catering
I am a qualified Practitioner and have worked at ABC since January 2011. Prior to taking up this post I was employed within a number of childcare locations over the last 20 years which includes out of school care and outdoor play club. I have recently expanded my skills by undertaking additional training to allow me to move into the catering division of the setting and taking on the responsibility of meeting the nutritional needs of the children.
My family is the main focus of my life as a mother and grandmother so pretty much surrounded by children on a permanent basis and wouldn’t change it for the world.
I joined ABC in February 2016 as an escort and driver. My main role is to ensure all the company vehicles are checked and safe, as well as arranging the drop off and collection of the children from their state nursery and school placements. In my spare time I enjoy playing my guitar, listening to music and working on my crosswords.
I started working at ABC in September 2015 as a Cook creating homemade nutritious meals for the children. I am a crafter whilst at home and love to make and design jewellery. As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother family are very important and I cherish spending time with them all.
Practitioner Support Worker
I am a Nursery Practitioner Support Worker and I was recruited in February 2016 as an Out Of School Carer were we plan a combination of learning and fun activities to engage the children of primary school age. I am a member of a local gym where I enjoy working-out and I have 2 sons who take up most of my spare time.
My role within the setting is that of a Nursery Management Consultant, working alongside the teams from November 2016 and putting my BA degree in Childhood Practice to good use and creating the best possible learning environment to encourage children to achieve their full potential. On a personal level I am kept very busy being a doting mother to my 2 young sons.
